Eurostar has a heart for Special Olympics

In 2014 Antwerp will have the privilege to host the Special Olympics European Summer Games. Delegations from 58 countries will gather in Antwerp to take part in the European Summer Games. 2,500 athletes are expected to participate in this event.

On this occasion, the Regional Committee Special Olympics Antwerp is organizing a prestigious gala dinner on Saturday 21 April 2012 in the Waagnatie, Antwerp. Under the patronage and in presence of the Governor, Mrs. Cathy Berx, Alderman Philip Heylen and Master of Ceremony Johan Segers it will be a prestigious, out of the box evening, with fashion from Ann Demeulemeester and Haider Ackermann and sparkling diamonds. The proceeds of this evening will be donated to Special Olympics Belgium.

Eurostar wishes to show its heart for Special Olympics by sponsoring the gala dinner and offering a diamond pendant during the evening.

About Special Olympics

In 1968 Special Olympics was founded by the Joseph P. Kennedy Jr. Foundation; an organization presently counting more than 3.7 million athletes. Special Olympics brings sports within the reach of everyone with intellectual disabilities, and offers the chance to train and participate in competitions to everyone, within his or her possibilities. This way, Special Olympics helps to contribute to their physical and social development and more importantly: their social integration.

Every year, Special Olympics Belgium organizes the National Games under the protection of the Belgian Olympic Committee, counting 3,270 participating athletes so far. (
